George "Scott" Ballard

Mr. George "Scott" Ballard, age 82, of Monterey, passed away Friday, August 15th at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Born September 9, 1931, in Owen County he was the son of the late George and Lela McDonald Ballard and was preceded in death by his children, Vickie Ann Ballard and Daniel Scott Ballard and his sister Betty Young. Scott was retired from the Commonwealth of KY in the Finance Cabinet where he was a building superintendent at the Old Capitol. He was a farmer and served his county in the Marines during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife Marjorie Tracy Ballard; his daughter Susan Ballard of Frankfort; his sister Patricia Roberts of Frankfort; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, August 18th from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday with Bro. Bob Karsner presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monterey Cemetery or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
