George Gegner

George Gegner, age 89, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Owenton Center. Born November 12, 1927 in Covington, KY, he was the son of the late William and Martha Belle Smith Gegner. He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Sygnor Gegner, his son, John Gegner and his brothers, Paul, Orlie and Robert. George was a WWII Navy Veteran, a carpenter and an accomplished saxophonist. He is survived by his children, Linda Gegner, George (Connie) Gegner, Jr., Pam (Robert) Bridwell, Treena Milla, Denese (Steve) Hardy, Greg (Nicki) Gegner, Matt Gegner and Shawn King; his two sisters, Anna Gess and Mary Ellen Gegner; 15 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. A host of extended family also survives. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 10 am Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY.
