George A. Foltz, 91, passed away Friday, 11th March, 2016, in Florence, Kentucky. He was born 14th June, 1924, in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Flossie (“Flo”) Brock Foltz (whom he married on 11th May 1957), parents Floyd K. Foltz, Ruth I. Perkins, brothers Leroy and Ralph and infant sister Martha. He is survived by his devoted son Jeffrey (Peg), granddaughters Ruth and Nora Foltz, nephews Bill Foltz (Janet), Larry Kelly (Josie), Christopher Dooley (Mary Jo), Phillip Dooley (Melanie), nieces Celia Foltz, June Brink, Stephanie Gaba (Jeff) and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He will be especially missed by his faithful friend and companion Nikki, who kept him young. George was a veteran of World War II serving in the 13th Armored Division, the “Black Cats”. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star for bravery. George graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for the Texaco Corporation after graduating and retired in 1982. He was a member of the Lima, Ohio Masons. George lived in various cities throughout his professional career including Cincinnati, Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana, St. Louis, Missouri, Overland Park, Kansas, and Naperville, Illinois. He and Flo designed and built their dream home in Walton, Kentucky in 1988, and he lived there until his death. He was a beloved friend and neighbor to many, and all who had contact with him cherished his humble and kind manner and his sense of humor. George loved gadgets and was always building things and collecting things, even up until his last days. He was passionate about politics and current events. He cared tirelessly for Flo during several illnesses, never complaining. He watched out for his neighbors, and they watched out for him. A memorial service honoring George’s life will be held on Saturday, 2nd April, 2016, at McDonald & New Funeral Home - Seminary St. in Owenton Kentucky at 11AM. Visitation is immediately preceeding at 10AM. A second memorial service will be held on Saturday, 21st May at Knox Presbyterian Church in Naperville (times to be determined). Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute, Indiana. Memorial gifts may be made to American Heart Association.
