George Edward "Bud" Dunavent passed away Thursday April 29, 2021 at the age of 94. He was born in Owenton the son of Edward and Edith Mae Harris Dunavent. He was also preceded by his sisters Katherine Marston and Charlsey Estes. Bud was owner of Bud's Auto Sales for many years, was a member of Owenton First Christian Church and a 50 year member of the Masonic lodge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WW II. He had many memories of the islands of Luzon and Leyte in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was a people person who loved telling stories, never met a stranger and always had a smile. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, his bird dogs and his Martin's. He was very mechanically inclined even from a young age having once borrowed 15 dollars to buy a washing machine motor that would power what may have been Owen County's first go-cart! One of his main loves aside from his family and grandkids was picking the guitar. He was part of the Sweet Owen Stringers and very much enjoyed playing and singing. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth True Dunavent, his daughters, Susan (Jimmy) Sutherland and Janna Fitzwater, his grandchildren, Aaron Ross (Katie) Sutherland, Katelyn Sutherland and Jason (Jessica) Fitzwater and his two great granddaughters, Jalayne Leslie Sutherland and Ellie Kate Fitzwater. The funeral will be on Saturday May 1, 2021 at Owenton First Christian Church at 2PM with visitation starting at 11AM. Memorials may be made to the Owenton First Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Owenton Cemetery.
