George Lee Cooke

August 8, 1934 — July 20, 2013

George Lee Cooke, age 78 and a resident of Owen County, passed away Saturday, July 20th at his home. Born August 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Howard and Helen Cooke. George was also preceded in death by a son: Paul Elliston; one sister: Patsy Lou Cooke and two brothers: Harold and Bobby Cooke. George was a retired employee of the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort and a Farmer. He also served his country in the United States Army. George is survived by his wife, Evelyn Cooke; two sons: Mike Elliston (Sue Ann) and Jeff Elliston (Patricia); one daughter: Laketa Ritchie (Buddy); one daughter-in-law: Janice Elliston; one brother: Johnny Cooke (Sandra) . Also surviving are grandchildren: Joshua “JT” Riddle, Jeffrey Elliston (Carrie), Phillip Elliston (Morgan P.), Andrew Elliston (Jessica), Kayla Dempsey (Jeremy), Kristen Hedger (Nathan), Brittany Elliston, Morgan T. Elliston, Lakenzie Ritchie; great grandchildren: Abigayle Dempsey, Isabella Hedger, Quinn Elliston and Baby Elliston. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25th, from 4 until 8pm at the Main Street location of McDonald Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 26th, beginning at 2pm. Bro. John Thomas will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Monterey Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey, Phillip, Andrew, J.T., Jeremy and Nathan. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Lakenzie , Kayla, Carrie, Brittany, Morgan T., Morgan P., Jessica, Kristen, Quinn , Isabella and Abigayle. Donations may be made to the Hope Lodge 1500 College Way Lexington, KY 40502.
