Gail Delois "BabySis" Jones Harris, age 82, of Owenton, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 at Gallatin Health & Rehab in Warsaw, KY.
Born September 29, 1937, in Louisville, KY, she was the third of ten children born to the late William Gayle and Clara Mae Thomas O'Bannon.
She accepted Christ at a very young age and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was very active in her church and loved to worship the Lord. She never lost her faith in the Lord despite her battle with a long illness. She graduated from Lincoln Institute in 1955.
She married Gayle "Tack" Harris on June 25, 1994. They were married for 25 years and blended their children, Myra, Douglas, Dwayne, Leslie and Derrick. Gayle and Gail loved to go fishing, shopping, attending plays and concerts.
Gail retired after 29 years, from Jefferson and Owen County Public Schools. After retiring, Gail kept busy gardening, volunteering, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was always supportive and available for her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with her family and friends.
God called her home on Valentine's Day. She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband Gayle "Tack" Harris; her children, Douglas (Tami), Dwayne (Marietta), Leslie (David), Derrick and Myra; her grandchildren, Jazmin, Dwayne "DJ" (Ashley), Cameron (Brittany), Tony "TJ", Shelby, David Jr. and De'ja; three great-grandchildren, Shyana, Zelda and Atlas; eight siblings, Emma (the late Arthur Samuel), Margie (Robert "Bobby"), Mary Lee, William "Duddy" (Georgia), John (Velene). Martha (Thomas), Clara (Michael), Carl (Maurine). Her brother Roland O'Bannon preceded her in death. A host of special nieces, nephews and friends will also miss her dearly.
McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street funeral home on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 4 - 8 pm. Homegoing celebrations will be held on Saturday at Second Baptist Church Owenton at 1 pm with Rev. Christopher Leon Hagan presiding.
