Frances Ellen Sharp

Frances Ellen Sharp, 88, of Owenton, passed away on August 14, 2026, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Born on October 19, 1937, in Owen County, she was the beloved daughter of the late Whittie and Jessie Hughes Wainscott and the cherished widow of Johnnie Sharp. Preceded in death by her siblings Elwood Finfrock, Alma Perkins, Betty Prather, and Mildred Burford, Frances was a woman of love and dedication.

Her career spanned many years at Fruit of the Loom, later retiring from New Horizons Medical Center in the kitchen. Together with her husband, she contributed to their farm, cultivating tobacco with care. Frances found joy in life's simple pleasures, cherishing meals at Farmhouse Grill, the comfort of her porch, and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren who lovingly called her Mamaw. Her vibrant flowers were a testament to her nurturing spirit.

Frances is survived by her children Tammy (Tim) Martin and Troy (Laura) Sharp; grandchildren Amber Martin, Kaitlin (Shawn Prather) Martin, Justin (Allison Perkins) Martin, Ada Sue (Brandon) Mertz, David (Gracie Bruener) Bell, Nathan (Alexia Miller) Johnson, Kirsten (Seth Clark) Sharp, Amy (Vinson) Harville, Justin Sharp, and Hayden Sharp; and great-grandchildren Brantley and Briar Prather, Kayla and Ricky Mertz, Delilah and Willow Bell, Grayson Tackett, and Asher Johnson. Her sisters Ella Sharp, Donna Thompson, Phyllis Mason, and Judy Conway also mourn her passing.

Visitation will be held at Hesler Assembly of God on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 11 am until 1 pm, followed by funeral services at 1 pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier officiating. Frances will be laid to rest at Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to New Funeral Home, in care of the Sharp family.
