Frances Jane King

Mrs. Frances Jane Prather King, age 79, of Owenton passed away Sunday, June 15th at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood. Born July 30, 1934, in the Sweet Owen community of Owen County, she was the daughter of the late John William and Katherine Helen Lyons Prather and preceded in death by her brother, William Prather. Mrs. King was a retired private duty, Licensed Practical Nurse and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and birds and her daily devotion of prayer and Bible reading. Most of all she enjoyed her role of caregiver to her husband of over 65 years. Surviving are her husband, William E. "Buddy" King; her daughters, Linda J. (Chip) Eckert of Cincinnati. Roxie A. (Denny) Reed of Mooresville, IN, and Patsy M. Hamilton of Owenton; her sisters, Patsy A. (Ralph) Toole and Pamela K. (Robert) Henderson both of Owenton. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Kelly Lester, Donnie Roark, James Reed, Shelby, Tyler and Gage King; eight great grandchildren, Jessie Roark, Andrew Montgomery, Ashley, Ciera, Gabrielle, Amber and Will Reed and Draven Tyler as well as one great-great granddaughter, Carra Montgomery. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Tuesday, June 17th from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
