Franklin Delano Craigmyle, lovingly known as "FD." Born on April 23, 1934, to Suter Craigmyle and Ethel Samford Craigmyle, FD lived a long and meaningful life before passing on September 18, 2025, at the age of 91.
FD was a lot of things — a devoted husband, a loving father, a faithful farmer, a brother, a friend, and so much more. But above all, his true love was Christ. His faith guided every step he took. FD lived Christ in his marriage, in his fatherhood, in his business, and in the way he treated every person he met.
For 51 years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Rita Ogburn Craigmyle. Their marriage was a testimony of faith, love, and commitment — a partnership grounded in Christ and filled with devotion. Together, they built a life that reflected God's love to everyone around them.
He was preceded in death by many dear loved ones who shaped his journey and now welcome him into eternal rest: his parents, Suter and Ethel; his wife Rita; his sister Elizabeth Wilson and her husband Don; his sister Ollie Dean Butcher and her husband Johnny; his brother Johnny Craigmyle and his wife Patricia Ogburn Craigmyle; his brother-in-law JS Lusby; his brother Paul Craigmyle; his nephew Michael Butcher; and his niece Venessa Craigmyle Duke.
FD's legacy continues through those he loved most: his son, Monty Frank Craigmyle, and Monty's wife Shauna; and his two granddaughters, Ashlyn and Moriah Schweitzer, who were the pride of his heart. He is also survived by his sister Betty Craigmyle Lusby, his in-laws Barbara Griffin Craigmyle, Harry & Debbie Perry, and many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Those who knew FD will remember his steady faith, his deep love for his family, and his unwavering work ethic. He poured himself into his farm and his work, but always with a heart turned toward Christ. His life was a living testimony of God's grace - proof that a man can lead with love, live with humility, and walk each day with faith.
As we remember FD, we celebrate not just the life he lived, but the faith he shared. He has finished his earthly race and entered into the joy of his Lord. Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life, and we give thanks for the gift of his presence in our lives.
"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." - 1 Corinthians 15:58
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
Rest in peace, Franklin Delano Craigmyle. You will be deeply missed, but your faith, love, and example will live on forever.
