Fay Tharp O'Banion

Fay Tharp O’Banion, 97, of Owenton, died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the New Horizons Medical Center. Born March 9, 1911, in Henry County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Boyd and Isabel Fewell Tharp and was the widow of John William “Bill” O’Banion. She was also preceded in death by her step daughter Mary Willie O’Banion Lafferty and her step grandchild. Fay was a retired beautician. She was a member of the Owenton First Baptist Church where prior to her death she was the oldest living member. She is survived by her daughter Peggy O’Banion of Owenton and five step grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes where family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Wednesday, December 31 from 10am until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Jesse Bourne and Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Owenton First Baptist Church or the Poplar Grove Cemetery Fund.
