Evelyn Jones Bourne

Evelyn Jones Bourne, age 83, was born July 17, 1932 in Owen County, Kentucky. She passed away after a 15 week illness on September 13, 2015 at the Owenton Center Nursing Home. She was the daughter of John Jones and Mary Wash Jones, who preceded her in death, as well as her two brothers, O.V. and Howard Jones. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Rev. Jesse Bourne; her daughter Suzanne (Gregg) Peak of Owenton; her son, David (Sandy) Bourne of Nancy; her four grandchildren, Jeff (Lauren) Peak, Sarah Peak, Tyler (Karrie Beth) Bourne and Caleb Bourne. Also surviving are her two great grandchildren, Shelby Peak and Roman Bourne. Evelyn was a retired school teacher, having taught a total of 30 years in Owen and Knott Counties. She was a member of the Owen County Retired Teachers Association, a graduate of Georgetown College and a lifetime member of the Woman's Association of Georgetown College. Evelyn was a member of the Owenton First Baptist Church. She was a great blessing and valuable church worker actively involved in WMU, teaching Sunday school, VBS and involved in many other church ministries serving with her husband at Eagle Hill, Smithsboro, West Liberty and Lusby's Mill Baptist churches. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16 at the First Baptist Church Owenton at 1pm. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owenton First Baptist Church.
