Evalena Shuler Higgs

Evalena Shuler Higgs, age 80, of Lawrenceburg, KY, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the UK Bluegrass Hospice Care Center.

Born April 13, 1946, she was the daughter of the lateWilliam and Rosie Lewis Shuler. Evalena was preceded in death by her husband of over 58 years, Benjamin "Bennie" Higgs; her grandson, Adam Curd; grandson-in-law, Travis Conway; and siblings, Mary Tipton and George Shuler. She was a devout Christian who was a member of the Lawrenceburg Church of God and read her Bible faithfully. Evalena was a talented quilter who made many quilts in her lifetime.  She also enjoyed collecting bears and solving word search puzzles. Most of all, she cherished her family and being "Granny" to those who loved her.

Evalena will be deeply missed by her children, Sarah (Mike) Curd and Ben (Maxine) Higgs; her granddaughters, Heather Conway and Christine Higgs; great-grandchildren, Aria Conway and Sawyer Conway; and her siblings, Brenda Taylor, Jimmy Shuler, Stoney Shuler, Jeanette Collingne, Connie Redmon, and William Shuler, Jr. 

Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, July 31, 2026, from Noon - 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Don Carter presiding.  Evalena will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Higgs family.
