Eva Mae Giles

Eva Mae Giles, age 100, formerly of Monterey, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011, in Louisville. Born July 16, 1910, in Owen County she was the daughter of the late Burton and Nettie Webb Lathrem and the widow of Paul Giles. Her son Leon Giles, three brothers, William, Robert and Charles Lathrem and a granddaughter, Donna Sue Perkins, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Giles was a homemaker and a member of Monterey Baptist Church. She is survived by her two sons, Ed Giles of Owenton and Gene Giles of Sharpsburg; a daughter Naomi Hauser of Louisville; her sister, Ruby Hammer of Louisville; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Wednesday, January 26th from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2pm with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Monterey Cemetery.
