Erma Johns Newton

Erma was born to the late Virgil Lee Johns and Laura May Rosell Johns on November 17, 1963, in Carrollton, KY, and passed away at the age of 60 in her home on April 19, 2024. She is also preceded in death by her brother Jerry Wayne Johns and her sister, Sandra Lee Johns Davis.
At the age of six years old, she devoted her heart to one boy of nine years old. At the age of 14 and he at 17, they became husband and wife on September 15, 1978.

She leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Lonney Dale Newton Sr., and her four children, Lonney Dale (Monica) Newton Jr., Jamaca Tucker, Tammy Newton, and Mariah (Bobby Schulz) Newton. Her grandchildren, Jeremiah, Laura, and Noah Tucker, Leland Andrews, Emily, Nevaeh, Kaylee, River, and Sylvia Newton, Colton, Logan, and Laken Ping, Skarlett Walters, Jaxx and Myles Schulz, and one granddaughter on the way; her great-grandchildren, Braelynn and Charlie Tucker, Halo Beach, and one great-granddaughter on the way. And her siblings, James, Daryl, Raymond, and Virgil (Ray) Johns.

Erma was a former cook at Church Hill Manor and Carrollton Inn Restaurant in Carrollton KY. And one of the best housekeepers that ever walked the halls of Perry Park Golf Resort. Erma was a family-oriented woman who never missed an opportunity for a gathering, party, or reunion. Her beautiful, loving, and giving heart left an impression on all those who were blessed to know her, and she was not often forgotten. Her contagious and unforgettable laughter will echo in our hearts forever. She loved to write poetry, sew, and quilt. She loved Teddy Bears. But her greatest joy was found in spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is survived by a large and extended family who will miss her dearly.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 11 am until 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with burial in the Carrollton Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home in care of the Newton Family.
