Emma B. Courtney

Mrs. Emma B. Courtney, age 76, of Owenton passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the New Horizons Medical Center. Born December 29, 1936, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Francis Marion "Frank" and Bethel Yarber Martin and was preceded in death by her son Rex Allen Martin and her brothers, Roy, Otis, Mike and Douglas Martin. She was a retired seamstress for Fruit of the Loom and formerly attended Hesler Assembly of God. Emma's favorite pastime was watching television, enjoying all the court shows and the Gaithers on the Christian Network. Surviving are her daughter, Melissa (Steven) Peak of Owenton; her sister, Mary Lou Branstetter of Connersville; her sisters-in-law, Thelma and Mary Martin; five grandchildren, Andrea (Robert) Branch, Bridget (Ryan) Heath, Colin-Jo Peak, Jason (Zarah) Martin and Jonathan (Donna) Martin; and three great grandchildren, Dakota, Mikaya and Jasmine and expecting another great grandchild, Riley. A step grand daughter, Danielle Goodpasture also survives. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A Life Celebration Service and meal will be hosted at the Extension Office on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 1pm. A time of visitation will begin at Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's own choosing.
