Emily Marie Marston

June 7, 1924 — August 16, 2013

Mrs. Emily Marie Marston, age 89, of Owenton passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at the New Horizons Medical Center. Born June 7, 1924 in the Fairbanks community of Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy D. and Hattie B. Jones Hammond. Also preceding her in death were her siblings, Bertha Kingcaid, Gracie Hammond, Gypsy Steres, Buford Hammond, Florence Toole and Henry Hammond. Mrs. Marston was a homemaker and a devout member of the South Fork Baptist Church where she was a sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. For over 65 years, she served her church making the unleavened bread for communion. Her recipe was also used by several other churches. Surviving are her husband of nearly 68years, Chester Marston; her children, Barry (Donna) Marston of Frankfort, Bruce (Mary Ann) Marston of Knoxville, TN and Sherry (David) Lyons of Owenton; two sisters, Beulah Cull and Bernice Harris of Owenton; nine grandchildren, Rebecca and Elizabeth Marston, Melanie (Lee) Peterson, Matt (Joy) Bray, Aaron Lee Marston, Abby Leigh (Jon) Gray, Katey and Lacey Cobb, and Christopher (Elizabeth) Lyons; and six great grandchildren, Kaleigh and Matilyn Bray, Noah and Owen Peterson, Hudson Gray and Jackson Lyons. Several nieces and nephews also survive. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 11am until 2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Bro. Kerry Dale Spencer presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to Owen County Relay for Life.
