Ella Margaret Good Deatherage

Ella Margaret Good Deatherage, age 97, of Frankfort passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Bradford Square in Frankfort.

Born May 15, 1926, in the Hesler community of Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Vernie and Laura Hughes Wainscott.  She was preceded in death by two husbands, Raymond W. Good and Donald Deatherage; as well as her son, Jackie Vernie Good; her son-in-law, Donald R. Fields, Sr; and her three brothers, James, Norman, and Shorty Wainscott.  She was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church and a former Sunday school teacher at Macedonia Baptist Church during her time there. She was a talented cook who served in the Owen County High School Cafeteria, the Jonesville Nursing Home, and even taught cooking skills to the 4-H groups.  Much of her life's work was dedicated to babysitting and will be remembered by many of the kids she helped raise, several who even call her Nana.

She will be missed by her children, Raymond C. (Sandra K.) Good, Nancy Fields, Lois Webster, Sue Griffin, and Bennie Good; nine grandchildren, Scott Good, Terry Griffin, Sherry Chowning, Don Fields, Jr., Keith Fields, Randy Fields, Jon Good, Brad Davidson, and Lesley Webster;  eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Lois Wainscott; and a host of nieces and nephews.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 5 - 8 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday with Lonnie Bennett presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Missionary Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice.
