Edward Lee Giles

August 23, 1932 — December 12, 2021

Edward Lee Giles, age 89, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born August 23, 1932, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Paul and Eva Mae Lathrem Giles.  He was the widower of Charlotte Gillispie Giles and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Giles and Leon Giles. Ed was a member of Monterey Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He served his community as a deputy sheriff and later the Owen County Sheriff. He went on to work as an inspector for the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the Department of Agriculture. After his retirement he worked part time at the Owen County Road Department, at the county barn.

He will be missed by his daughter, Carla (Marc) Duvall; his grandsons, Bradley and Dylan Duvall; his sister, Naomi Hauser; and his special friend, Darlyn Waldrop.

McDonald & New Funeral homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Thursday, December 17, 2021 from 11 am until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Crossings Camps. *WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST MASKS BE WORN FOR ALL SERVICES*
