Earl Wayne New, 73, of Gratz passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. Born November 22, 1942, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Earl C. and Wilma Coyle Morgan New. Earl served his country in the United Sates Army, was a member of the New Hope Baptist Fellowship and was a retired engineer from IBM, where he developed ink for IBM Inkjet printers. Earl had a deep love for nature, enjoying being on the water, hunting and fishing. He owned and operated New's Cafe and Goldstar Bed Breakfast, both of which fed his passion for antiques, history and the study of glassware. Surviving are his wife, Linda Smith New; his daughters, Lynnette Owen and Alicia New; his son, Morgan Wayne New; brother, John Russell New and his grandchildren, Jason New, Briana Friese and Lilleigh New. Earl also leaves behind a host of clients and devoted friends. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday August 27th with Bro. Rex Gibson presiding.
