Dorothy Jean Tanksley

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Tanksley, age 72, of Owenton, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.Born June 17, 1941, in Lexington, KY, she was the daughter of the late Boyce and Bonnie Fox Lyttle and was also preceded by her brothers Gary and Bobby Lyttle.  Dorothy was an administrative assistant for the Commonwealth of KY and a member of the Owenton First Christian Church.She is survived by her husband George Tanksley; her sons, Russell (Teresa) Miller of London and Mike Tanksley of Owenton; her daughters, Kathy (Larry) Highlander of Dayton, OH, Susan (Robert) Ellis of Owenton and Tammy (Retired Sgt Tom) Singleton of Owenton; her brothers, Fred and David Lyttle; her sisters, Judy Mayabb, Shirley Mullins, Linda Roark and Debbie Brown.  Thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, April 18th from 4-7pm.  Funeral services will follow at 7pm with Bro. Bill Browning presiding.  Burial will be 10am Saturday at the Forest Hill Memorial Gardens in Dayton, OH.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
