Dorothy Whisman Johnson

Dorothy Whisman Johnson, age 95, of Owenton, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023.

Born August 26, 1928, in Henry County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Cord and Elizabeth Cox Whisman.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Rome C. Johnson, whom she married on June 23, 1945. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Dale Whisman, Ola Lee Franks, and Marcella Peed. Dorothy was a member of Elk Lick Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She farmed beside her husband for many years and took great pride in her sewing, making clothing and quilts for many family and friends.  In her free time, she enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and reading.

She will be missed by her daughters, Judy (Don) Prather and Wanda Sue (David) Becker; her grandchildren, Pam (Ron) Purvis, Cindy (Joe) Schafer, and Jory (Kelly) Becker; and her great-grandchildren, Christopher Purvis, Gretchen Purvis, Kaelyn Becker, Luke Purvis, and Sean Leonard

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 11 am until 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. John Thomas presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choosing.
