Doris Ann Tackett

Doris Ann Beverly Tackett, age 81, of Owenton, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born March 14, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Elijah Oldham and Lucille Perkins Beverly. She was preceded in death by her sister, Billie Jo Taylor.

Doris was the proud owner of Tackett’s Men's Wear, which she and her husband purchased in 1981. As both a businesswoman and the store’s seamstress, she took great pride in serving her community—fitting countless customers with care and attention over the years. Her skilled hands and warm heart left a lasting mark on everyone who walked through the doors.

Outside of work, Doris found her greatest joy in the simplicity of being near the water. She cherished her time at Elk Lake, where she could often be found in her favorite rocking chair, watching the kids play, casting a line, or hosting family and friends for memorable gatherings.

A devoted Parrothead, Doris loved all things Jimmy Buffett. Whether attending his concerts or listening to his music at home, she embraced the easygoing, joyful spirit his songs inspired. Doris was a longtime member of Owenton First Christian Church.

Doe, as her family lovingly called her, will be missed by many, including her husband, Larry Tackett; her sons, Terry (Teresa) Tackett and Tommy (Deanna) Tackett; her grandchildren, Matt (Heather) Way, Shane (Brittany) Perkins, Casey (Austin) Roberts, and Nolan (Abby Lyons) Tackett; great grandchildren, Lindon and Weston Way, Elizabeth Roberts, Peyton M. and Lane Turner, Peyton B. and Braxton Perkins, and Colsen Roberts who arrives soon; her brother, Bobby "Buck" (Pat) Beverly; and a host of friends and extended family.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends for visitation at the Main Street location on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 11 am - 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Rev. Tina Glossen officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to either Owenton 1st Christian or Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice.
