Doris L Gaines

Doris L. Gaines, age 88, of Owenton passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Owenton Center.Born August 19, 1929, in Independence, KY she was the daughter of the late Hallie T. and Birda Kinmon Smith.  She was preceded in death by her husband Allie B. "Buck" Gaines and her eight brothers, Howard, Roberts, Kenneth, Melvin, Buddy, Jerry, Butch and Harold.  Mrs. Gaines was retired from Schlumberger and a member of Owenton First Christian Church.  She enjoyed cooking, quilting, embroidery, crafts and traveling.She is survived by her daughters, Linda L. (Walt) Perry and Sharon G. Terrell; her granddaughter, Jessica and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 11am until 1 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 1 pm.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Owen County Band Boosters.
