Doris Jeanette Dawson

Doris Jeanette Roberts Dawson went home to Jesus on November 25, 2020 at the age of 84.

She was born to the late Jesse and Lena Newby Roberts on May 7, 1936, in Lockport, KY, in Henry County. She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, a brother Russell Roberts and sister Annabelle Beverly.

Doris was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed reading, crocheting, raising flowers and watching her hummingbirds. She managed the office for Dawson's Garage and Dawson's Upholstery where she also did upholstery.  Her family was the most important thing to her.

She was a loving Christian mother to Sharon (Bill) Woods, Karen Karsner, and Dede (Mike) Grisham. She raised her children with her devoted husband R.C. "Pete" Dawson. They have been happily married for 70 years. They shared their love for their grandchildren, Jason Woods, Jeremy Woods, Bryan Callaghan, Kara Callaghan Criswell, Amber Karsner Wagers, and Meagan Karsner Greenlee. Doris also loved her great grandchildren, Kenneth Wagers, Silas, Callie and Jeremiah Criswell, Damien, Ava, and Luna Woods, Haley Maggard, Natalie Woods, and Brynlee Nix Callaghan.  Doris also leaves behind her brother Harry Lee Roberts and sisters Mary Minch and Billie Jo Williams. She is also survived by nephews and nieces Norman Minch, Marilyn Minch White, Tony Beverly, Libby Roberts Miller and Chris Williams.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Woods, Jeremy Woods, Bryan Callaghan, Matt Greenlee, John David Criswell and Kenneth Wagers.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A private service will be held with Bro. Craig Howard and Bro. Dale Adkins presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church or Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice.
