Donald Calvin Towles, 93, of Wheatley, KY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at his residence. He was born on September 16, 1930, to the late Edgar V. and Oma Poe Towles in Scott County, KY.
Preceding him in death were his siblings, Walter, Edgar, Jerry, Larry, Leslie, Lorena, Lucy, Mary Ruth, Pauline, and Flora Evelyn. He graduated from Stamping Ground High School in 1948. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army in Alaska from 1953 until 1955. He was a proud farmer who raised tobacco and cattle and ran a dairy. He was a pioneer in no-till farming in Owen County. He served the Lord and Dallasburg Baptist Church as a tireless and faithful deacon and as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was respected for his ability to lead in prayer. He was an active member of Dallasburg Masonic Lodge. He loved his family dearly, could make friends easily, and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan.
He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 66 years, Carolyn McNeal Towles, and his three sons, Tim Towles, Bobby (Cathy) Towles, and Randy (Kasey) Towles. He is survived by his beloved grandchildren Tommy (Kelly) Heichelbech, Chrissy (Jason) Caskey, Kimberly Garrett, Megan (Abel) Olguin, Westley (Brandi) Graves, Callie (Ben) Sparrow, Robert Towles, Chris (Danielle) Towles, Patrick Towles, John Randall Towles, Jubilee Towles and seventeen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Lester (Margaret) Towles. Ann Wainscott, and Nila Jean Marksberry.
New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at Dallasburg Baptist Church on Sunday, January 14, 2023, from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Monday at the church with Bro. Michael David officiating. Burial will be in the Wheatley Masonic Cemetey.
