Donald Eugene Perkins

July 31, 1934 — February 20, 2021

Donald Eugene Perkins, age 86, of Owenton passed away at his home on Saturday, February 20, 2021.

He was born July 31, 1934, in Owen County to the late Raymond and Mary Elizabeth Wainscott Perkins. He was preceded in death by his eight siblings, Thelma Leifer, William Perkins, Harold Perkins, Dorothy Patterson, Raymond Perkins, Jr., Virginia Hearn, Bobby Perkins, and Shirley Duvall. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed raising tobacco and cattle. Donald was an avid UK Basketball fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Donald will be missed by his wife, Diana Ray Stamper Perkins; his children, Raejean Perkins, Lainna (Doug) Smalara, and Dane Clay (Kara) Perkins; his grandchildren, Braden Burgess, Camden Burgess, Blaine Spencer, Ryder Clay Perkins, and Lainey K. Perkins.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 11 am until 1 pm for a pass-thru visitation. Masks and social distancing are required. Funeral services, with limited seating, will follow at 1 pm with Bro. Danny Duvall presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Elk Lick Baptist Church or Owen County Friends of Animals. Live stream available here .
