Donald J Perkins

August 18, 1932 — October 2, 2025

Owenton

Donald J Perkins, age 93, born August 18, 1932, of Owenton, KY, passed peacefully on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving daughters and close family. A devoted man of faith, Donald lived his life with steadfast love for God, family, and friends. He was saved as a teenager after being invited to New Liberty Baptist Church by Johnny and F.D. Craigmyle. He later moved to Owenton and joined Owenton First Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member and served as a deacon for many years. He was an Army veteran who loved his country.

Donald was married to the love of his life, Nancy Carol Williams Perkins, for 64 years. Nancy and Donald had a love that was beautiful to watch. Their love was a true testament to faith and devotion. The love they felt for their daughters was evident to everyone, and the love they had for Tim, Todd, and Rick (sons-in-law) was pure, unconditional love.

Donald was a successful farmer who had a way of making hard work seem fun. Many young men worked on the farm with Donald, all while learning life lessons that have served them well throughout their adult years. His best advice was, “The best thing you can do for your children is love their mother.” Whether it was those young men working on his farm or someone he had just met, Donald was able to see and bring out the best in everyone he knew. He was generous and loving, always ready to give a compliment or a second chance. He had a sense of humor and zest for life that was infectious.

When Donald wasn’t working, he could be found fishing, hunting, golfing, or spending time with family and friends. Donald was able to play golf on his 90th birthday and shot his age, which was a goal of his each year after he turned 80. His competitive nature helped him achieve shooting his age multiple times.

Donald cherished his role as Papaw most of all. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him pure joy. When he was with them, he played and made everything fun. He supported them in all things: sports, school, college, and careers.

His fun and loving nature will be missed by his devoted daughters, Sherry (Tim) Craigmyle, Lesa (Todd) Marston, and Julie (Rick) Hubbard; his beloved grandchildren, Kiley Blair, Brent Craigmyle, Landon Marston, Lauren Bielawski, Shea Farmer, Tyler Hubbard, and Meredith Lewis; his legacy of great-grandchildren, Spencer Blair, Ellie Blair, Emma Blair, Aubrey Craigmyle, Sophia Blair, Emerson Marston, Oliver Marston, Mallory Craigmyle, Pippa Marston, Laynie Lewis, Konrad Bielawski, Leo Farmer, Koby Bielawski, Lexie Lewis, Kamila Bielawski, and Ellie Farmer. Donald will also be missed by his brother, Park Perkins, and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florian and Della Mae Wainscott Perkins; his wife, Nancy; and his siblings, Curtis, Mildred, Marvin, Nannie, Odella, and Gayle.

Visitation will take place on Monday, October 6, 2025, from Noon to 4:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 PM at Owenton First Baptist Church, 213 North Main Street, Owenton, KY 40359. Bro. Craig Howard and Bro. Brad Banks will officiate, and a private burial will take place in the Owenton Cemetery. Contributions in Don's memory may be made to Owenton First Baptist Church.
