Donald was born, raised, and lived in Owen County his entire life. He was a hard working sun-up to sundown farmer. Farming was the thing he knew and loved. He was also a factory worker, supervisor, maintenance man, and was Owen County dog warden for around 15 years. He was a true hunter, walking many miles over many hills in pursuit of coon, deer, turkeys, grouse, rabbits, and birds. He loved all aspects of hunting. When he was able, he loved playing cards with his buddies at the Monterey Market. He and his wife, Flo, loved to dance and would go out many Saturday nights to "shake a leg". They were very good at it too.

Donald was a very social, outgoing person, who never met a stranger. He was the kindest, most loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family. His love was unconditional. He would do anything within his power to help his family, friends, or neighbors. Don was a good christian man and a member of Greenup Fork Baptist Church and a deacon there for many years. He lived his faith, setting an example for his children and grandchildren to follow. He often would tell his children, "If you can't say something good, don't say anything." He was a good man who will be greatly missed by us all.
