Diane Greene

Phyllis "Diane" Greene, age 74 of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at her home. Born September 27, 1941, in Gallatin County she was the daughter of the late Richard Hubert "Dick" and Mary Osborne Young. She was the widow of James Bryant Greene and was also preceded in death by her daughter Dawn Greene and her sister Judy Carl Thomas. Diane started her career teaching remedial reading and went on to work for Farmer's Bank, Peoples Bank and spent 14 years as a loan officer for the Sparta Bank. She eventually retired from Itron and was a long standing member at Sparta Christian Church. Surviving are her sons, Mark (Monica) Greene and Michael (Vicki) Greene; her grandchildren, Talia Weinberg, Cole Green and Wolfe Greene. Also surviving are her two great grandchildren, Levi Greene and Leryn Weinberg. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Saturday, July 16 from 11am until 1pm. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with burial in the Owenton Cemetery.
