Derek Andrew Reever, age 57, of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, passed away on October 8, 2026.
He was born on April 30, 1969, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Robert S. and the late Jane A. Reever.
Derek grew up in Westford, Massachusetts, spending many cherished summers at his grandparents’ home on Province Lake in Effingham, New Hampshire, and aboard his family’s boat in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Those formative experiences fostered a lifelong love of nature, whether fishing on Province Lake, exploring the waters of Gloucester in search of sea creatures, or later creating a welcoming wildlife sanctuary in his own backyard. The summers he spent with family and friends provided treasured memories and enduring friendships that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
From a young age, Derek excelled in athletics, participating in soccer, basketball, and baseball throughout his childhood and high school years. An accomplished runner, he proudly completed the Boston Marathon. His quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and outgoing personality earned him many lifelong friendships, as well as the admiration of teachers, coaches, and classmates.
Derek graduated from Westford Academy in 1987 and went on to attend American International College on a soccer scholarship, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1991.
Derek built a successful career in sales, logistics, and supply chain management. His professional journey took him from Atlanta, Georgia, back to the Boston area, and ultimately to Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, where he made his home for the past ten years.
Derek lived a life defined by generosity, laughter, and an unwavering love for family and friends. A devoted Boston sports fan, he could often be found cheering on the Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots, and Penguins while proudly wearing his favorite team jerseys and caps.
Above all else, Derek’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being a father to his son, Grant Allen Reever, whom he shared with Stacie Allen. Their bond was the center of his world for the past twelve years. He loved teaching Grant about the rich history of Boston sports, discussing favorite players and statistics, and sharing countless conversations about the teams they loved. Whether watching Grant compete in basketball, soccer, and football, listening to music together, or enjoying a quiet game of chess, Derek cherished every moment they spent together.
Derek devoted his heart, time, and energy to being his son's biggest supporter, trusted mentor, and best friend. The love they shared will remain one of the most enduring parts of his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jonathan, and his brother-in-law, Rich. He is survived by his beloved son, Grant; his sister, Robin LaPolla; his nephew, Kevin LaPolla; his niece, Kristin LaPolla; and a close circle of extended family and lifelong friends who will forever miss his sharp wit, warm smile, and generous spirit.
