Dean Allen Thornton

Mr. Dean Allen Thornton, age 56, of Shelbyville and formerly of Owen County, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at his residence. Born March 9, 1958 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late William Thornton. Dean was a landscaper by trade and a member of the Beechridge Baptist Church in Shelby County. He was preceded in death also by his grandparents, Jack and Emma Thornton and Stewart and Sara Roberts and his step father Gene Goodrich. Surviving are his mother, Martha Roberts Goodrich of Shelby County; his brother, Danny Thornton of Owen County; his children, Leatha Bukner of Missouri, Tyler Thornton of Louisville and Angelica Thornton of Ft. Bliss, TX; his step sister, Lisa Goodrich; his step brother Steven Goodrich both of Woodford County; his grandson, Eli Bukner and several nieces and nephews as well as extended family. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 11am until 2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Bro. Chuck Umholtz presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beechridge Baptist Church or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
