David Lynn Smith

David Lynn Smith, age 61, of Gratz, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 5, 2020.

Born April 20, 1959, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Sim Lee and Lulia Wilhoite Smith.  He was preceded in death by his infant son, Justin Smith, and his siblings, Mae Walker, Charlotte Burke, and SJ Smith. David was a lifelong farmer, raising cattle, corn, tobacco, hemp, and hay.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting flea markets to add to his antique collection.  He was also co-owner of Smitty's Gas & Food Market.

David is survived by his sons, Johnathon Smith and Jason Smith; his siblings, Mary Bramblett, Harold Smith, Glenna Long, Ray Smith, Linda New, Brenda Miller, Larry Smith, and Judy Smith.  He is also survived by Shayne Cook who was like a son to him as well as a host of extended family and friends.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  A graveside service will be held on David's farm on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at 11 am.
