Darnell M. Stivers

Darnell M. Stivers, age 82, of Owenton, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Bradford Square Healthcare in Frankfort.

Born March 28, 1936, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late George Buck Stivers and Hattie Lee Norton Stivers.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Scotty Stivers and nine siblings.  Darnell retired from the Owen County School Systems as a mechanic after 32 years of service at the bus garage. He also owned and operated a water hauling business, transported cattle and ran a milk route.  Darnell's real passion was owning and riding horses though.

He is survived by his wife, Beulah Wainscott Stivers; his children, Eddie Stivers and Bonita Stivers, Garry Gaines, Larry Gaines, Charlie Gaines and Teresa Fitzgerald; fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.  His siblings, Ray Davis and Betty Ann Stivers also survive.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, February 25, 2019, from 10am until 1pm.  Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Bro. Brad Banks presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
