Danny James "Dj" Harris

Danny James "DJ" Harris, 49, passed away Wednesday August 2, 2023 in Lexington.

He was born in Carrollton KY on August 9, 1973. For most of his working life he did masonry work and also did roofing, landscaping and carpentry. He loved playing softball. He also enjoyed demolition derbies, hunting, fishing and fighting chickens. He was a member of Owenton Methodist Church and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by Rick Morgan and Randy Smoot, two men that he considered as Dad.

He is survived by his wife Melinda Hall, his mom Pam Smoot, his daughter Blair Harris, his sons Timmy Harris and Austen Harris, four grandchildren, Caiden, Braxton, Bryce and Brenton. He is also survived by his brother, Jeremiah "JJ" Morgan and his wife Ann and their children Katelynn and Colton. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive along with his dogs Cletus, Buddy and Lou that he took out early every morning.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday night August 8 at 7PM at the Main St. location of New Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 4PM. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
