Daniel Marselle Sheppard

Daniel "Skip" Marselle Sheppard, age 83, of Owenton, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 5, 2020.

Born April 6, 1937, in Pulaski County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Abraham Daniel and Sadie May Riddle Sheppard. Skip served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service as a Staff Sergeant. He saw tours of duties during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.  He also worked for many years at the Owenton Water Works.  In his younger years, he served as a Commander for the VFW.  He enjoyed fishing playing cards and lottery.

Skip is survived by his wife, whom he married on January 28, 1958, Emma Terry Sheppard; his children, Dusty R. (Carmen) Sheppard, Christopher A. (Dru Marks) Sheppard, Eric Sheppard and Dana M. (James) Herbert; grandchildren, Jared (Alisha) Sheppard, Sabrina (Pete) Roberts, Dustin Sheppard, Brett Colston, Bryan (Christine) Sheppard, Laura (Larry) Henderson, Heather (Ian) Zimmerman and Victoria McDaniel; great grandchildren, Damon Jennings, Maddox Roberts, Cameron and Abigail Sheppard, Athenah, Saydee, and Remi Colston, Jayden Ison and Josiah Henderson. He is also survived by his siblings, Alvin (Betty) Sheppard, Rosetta White and Charles Emmit Sheppard as well as a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 4-6 pm. Funeral services will follow at 6 pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to either Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church or Bethany Baptist Church.
