Damon Leon Dowdy, age 10, a bright and joyful soul with a love for dinosaurs, the color blue, and a vivid imagination, has passed away, on Friday, September 20, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories. Damon’s days were filled with simple joys that brought light to everyone around him. He adored watching Beetlejuice, Paw Patrol, and Bluey, often sharing his enthusiasm for these shows with those he loved.
His creative spirit thrived while playing with Legos and superheroes, Batman being his favorite. Damon’s heart was filled with a sense of adventure, and he was fortunate to travel with his beloved grandparents, Mike and Donna Dowdy. His journeys took him to the Holy Land twice, Hawaii, and to experience the magic of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Damon also cherished the fun of playing video games with his cousins and engaging in epic Nerf gun battles.
A huge Dolly Parton fan, Damon found comfort and joy in the books from her Imagination Library Program, as his loved ones read to him stories that sparked his curiosity and wonder.
Damon is survived by his father, Daniel Dowdy; his grandparents, Mike and Donna Dowdy; his Aunt, Brandy Swigert; his cousins, Chad Dowdy, Ashton, and Jackson Swigert; and his great aunt, Mary Darlene O'Banion.
Damon’s playful spirit, adventurous heart, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His memory will be cherished always.
New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 10 am until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with burial in the Owenton Cemetery. Bro. Jeremy Warren will preside.
