Cora Belle Stivers

August 19, 1929 — January 28, 2020

Cora Belle Stivers, age 90, of the Squiresville community, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Born August 19, 1929, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Katherine Long Miller and the widow of Earl Gordon Stivers.  She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Charlie Miller, Tommy Miller, Pauline Cox, and Geraldine Miller.  Cora Belle worked for the Owenton Manor for many years as a cook in the dietary department and was a member of the Squiresville Baptist Church.  She loved to cook and feed others and enjoyed bird watching, especially hummingbirds and purple martins.  She also spent many hours working in her flowers.

Surviving are her children, Bobby (C.J.) Stivers, Gene (Sue) Stivers, Kathy (Ralph) Wright, Rex (Sharon) Stivers, Gayle (Laurel) Stivers, and Lula (Thomas) Ray; her grandchildren, Angie, Teresa, Jake, Melissa, Stephanie, Crystal, Teri, Brian, Lavina, Shelby, Lee Drew, Nick, and Holly; twenty-three great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her siblings, Thelma Baumgartner, Danny Miller, and Anna Dews as well as a host of extended family.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Thursday, January 30, 2020, from, 10 - 1 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Bro Craig Howard presiding. Burial will be in the Squiresville Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to either Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice or Squiresville Baptist Church.
