Clinton L. Arnold

December 31, 1939 — December 24, 2025

Owenton

Clinton L. Arnold, age 85, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in Owenton, Kentucky, surrounded by his family. Clinton was born on December 31, 1939, in Carroll County, Kentucky. He was the youngest of eleven children, born to the late Rella and Allie Cotrell Arnold. He was preceded in death by 9 of those siblings, J.D., Eugene, Ira, Albert, Hazel, Mary Katherine, Ruby, and two infant siblings.

Clinton's journey began with his education, as he graduated from Carroll County High School in 1958. He then pursued a career in barbering, attending barber school in Louisville and serving his apprenticeship in Covington. In 1963, he became a co-owner of Gayle Lusby and Clayton Chandler's barber shop, which he later renamed Arnold's Barber Shop. There, he cut hair for many years, enjoying the company of his clients and forming lasting friendships. Clinton retired at the age of 60 but did not stay away from his true passion for long. He quickly opened Locust Alley Barber Shop, continuing to serve his clients until his health began to decline.

Clinton was not just known for his barbering skills; he also embarked on a successful antiques career starting in 1983. He opened The Keeping Room, and by 1985, he had expanded his business into antique malls and was a regular participant in the Burlington Antique Show. At Burlington, he could always be found by looking for the largest pieces of furniture. He took great pride in making old things come to life. His love for auctions was well-known—there, he could often be found buying items as well as lending a helping hand to others, building lifelong friendships along the way.

Clinton will be remembered as a quiet man with a sharp wit. He had a knack for joking, especially giving telemarketers a hard time. He also delighted in a good game...as long as he could win.

Clinton is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Wanda Blackburn Arnold, along with their daughter, Gail Heightchew. He will also be greatly missed by his only surviving brother, Charles Arnold; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Clinton will be remembered fondly for his dedication to his craft, his sense of humor, and the love he had for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at the Main Street location on December 28, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Funeral Homes. The funeral service will take place on December 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at New Funeral Homes, with a private burial to follow in Wheatley Cemetery. His dear friend, Darrell Maines, will officiate the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators or Owen County Friends of Animals.
