Climmie Rice Hammond, of Owenton, passed away Saturday, October 17 at the St. Luke Hospital – Florence at the age of 92. She was born in Owen County the daughter of the late Millard and Lizzie Chowning Rice. She was also preceded in death by a son, Albert Hammond Jr., infant daughter, Judy Belle Hammond, three sisters, Minnie Mae Thompson, Laura Romans Parker and Cora Booth Richerson, and four brothers, Omer, Thomas, Lewis and William Rice. She was a homemaker and member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mary (R.C.) Swigert and Nellie Smith, two sons, J.D. (Alice) Hammond and Johnny Hammond and a daughter-in-law Ethel Hammond all of Owenton. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held at the Main Street location on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 from 10am to 3pm. Funeral services will follow at 3pm with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, Hospice of the Bluegrass or Cedar Hill Baptist Church.
