Clark Shelton

April 14, 1964 — March 3, 2018

Derwin "Clark" Shelton, age 53, of Owenton, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.Born April 14, 1964, in Owenton, he was the son of the late Arvel Shelton and preceded in death by his infant sister, Verna June.  Clark was a member of the Owenton First Baptist Church.  He was a 1982 graduate of Owen County High School where he played baseball and basketball,  He furthered his education, receiving a bachelors of business administration from Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN.  While there he also played four years of baseball.  Clark had a lifelong passion passion for the sport and even went on to coach little league baseball for several years.  He was employed by Kentucky Utilities for over 25 years, most recently at the EW Brown plant in Burgin as a coal yard operator.Clark is survived by his mother, Pauline West Shelton; his wife, Connie Simpson Shelton; his children, Lucas, Logan and Madelin Shelton; his siblings, Tim (Carol) Shelton, Kathleen Haskell and Deborah Shelton; his nieces and nephews, Jordan (Jaye) Shelton, Justin Shelton, Thomas (Jana) Haskell, Des Sparrow and Chris (Beth) Lyons.  He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews, Jase, Adam, Jackson, Riley, and Wyatt.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, from 4 - 8 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday at Owenton First Baptist Church with Bro. Brad Banks presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.  Flowers are welcome or family suggests contributions be made to Owen County Parks and Recreation, Community Service Commission to further the baseball program.
