Clarence Sidney Smith

Clarence Sidney Smith, age 81, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Owenton Manor.

BornApril 1, 1937, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Chester an Lockett Beckham Smith and was preceded in death by his brother W.T. Smith.  Clarence was the owner operator of his own trucking company and a lifelong farmer. He was also a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Osborne Smith; his children, Pam (Virgil) McAlister, Rodney (Brenda) Smith, Darryl (Judy) Smith and Ada Hammer; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and siblings Jack Smith, Chester Smith, Jr., Bessie Whitaker, Barbara Purvis, Joyce Barnes, Zelma Wilson, Thelma House, Vickie Robey, Shirley Ballard and Janie Collins.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street funeral home on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 11 am to 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Rev. Maurice Trayner presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church or Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
