Clarence Gaines

Clarence Martin Gaines, 64, of Owenton, passed away Thursday June 26th at the St. Joseph Hospital Hospice Center. Born May 30, 1944 in Owenton, he was son of the late Herschel Combs and Christine Beckham Combs. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Norman Combs and Brenda Smith. Clarence was a farmer and retired from Schlumberger with 22 years of service. He was also a member of the Baptist faith. Clarence is survived by wife of 44 years Margaret Sue Wagers Gaines; three children, Clara S. Burford, Gary R. Gaines and Tammy J. Wilson; two sisters, Ruby Carmack and Elizabeth Moore; brother, Herschel Combs, II; 12 grandchildren, Jerid, Heather and Joshua Burford, Robbin, John and Audrey Gaines, Josh Wells, Kirk, Michael, Brandon, Brandi and Logan Wilson; three great grandchildren, Kobe and Jasmine Burford and Carson Thomas of Owenton Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location, Monday, June 30, from 10am until 1pm. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Bro. Darren Wolford officiating. Burial will be in the Monterey Cemetery. Memorial Contributions are suggested to funeral expenses.
