Christine Louise Lankford

Christine Louise Cooper Lankford, age 86, of Owenton, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Born December 28, 1934, in Harlan, KY, she was the daughter of the late Geneva Fielden Harris and Clarence Cooper. She was the widow of Luther "Horsefly" Lankford, they were married for over 59 years. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Sylvia, Virgie, Edna, Margaret, Octavia, Raymond, Grover, Isaac. Christine loved her family deeply, enjoyed cooking for all of them when she was able, and spoiling every baby she could. She was known affectionately as Maw and Mamaw, not only to her family but to everyone around her.  She liked crocheting, watching the hummingbirds, working puzzles, and watching her 'stories', especially "Day's of Our Lives".

She will be missed by her sons, Larry (Sharon) Lankford and James Lankford; her grandchildren, Ethan, Cory, Debbie, Jerry, Shannon, Christy, Stephanie, Shaun, Bryan, and Jaime; her 17 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, October 18, 2021, from 11 am until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Diana Soard presiding. Burial will be in the Monterey and memorial contributions may be made to Owen County Friends of Animals.
