Chester Lee Marston

Chester Lee Marston of Owenton died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the Owenton Manor. He was born in the South Fork community of Owen County Jan 16, 1920 to the late Sherfy L.and Lacie Ayres Marston. A veteran of WWII, having arrived in Casa Blanca in 1943, he went on to serve in Northern Africa, Austria, and Italy. He was a member of the 349th Infantry Medical Unit where he searched for places to set up aid stations. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Before moving to Owenton he had been a farmer in the Pleasant Home and later Cull Communities. A devout Christian, he was the oldest member of the South Fork Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 67 years, and also a Sunday School teacher and song leader. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard, and watching the news. He was preceded in death in 2013 his wife of nearly 68 years, Emily hammond. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara Ann Marston, Lena Mae Williams, James W. Marston, Betty Lou Deaton, and Robert G. Marston. He is survived by his children; Barry (Donna) Marston of Frankfort , Dr. Bruce (Mary Ann) Marston of Knoxville, TN, and Sherry (David) Lyons of Owenton. Also surviving are his 9 Grandchildren; Rebecca ,Elizabeth, and Aaron Lee Marston, Abby Leigh (Jon) Gray, Katey and Lacey Cobb, Melanie (Lee) Peterson, Matt (Joy) Bray,Christopher (Elizabeth) Lyons; and six great grandchildren; Hudson Gray, Kaleigh and Matilyn Bray, Jackson Lyons and Owen and Noah Peterson. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews and friends at Owenton Manor. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2pm at Seminary Street. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11-2pm. Rev. Kerry dale Spencer will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
