Charles "Charlie" E. Howard, age 90, of the Squiresville community in Owen County, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family.Born September 15, 1926 in Squiresville he was the son of the late Albert and Aura Peak Gibson Howard. He was the widower of Nannie Margaret Perkins Howard and was preceded in death by his siblings, JT, Mary Jane and William Howard and Eunice Gaines. Charlie was a life long farmer, raising tobacco and beef cattle. He played baseball for the Ohio Valley Baseball League as a catcher and loved retelling those stories. He was a devoted member of the Squiresville Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing.He is survived by his children, Robert "Craig" (Pam) Howard, Charles "Todd" (Annette) Howard and Millie Dawn Howard; his grandchildren, Scott, Taylor Drew, Carly and Colton Howard, Gabrielle, Gavin, Max and Madelin Brandt; his great grandchildren, Braden, Hannah and Rachel Howard, Sawyer and Aurora Wilhoite; his siblings, James, Beebe, Delbert and Lucille Howard, Betty Simpson, Dorothy Smith and Ruby Frazier. Charlie is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday at the funeral home with Bro. Dale Adkins presiding.
