Charles Wright

Charles Wright, 78 and a resident of Old Sweet Owen Road, passed away Saturday, January 24th, in Owenton. Born May of 1930, he was the son of the late Everett and Zula Estes Wright. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Ray Wright. Charles was a member of the South Fork Baptist Church. He was a farmer and served the County in many ways. He was a member of the Owen County Fair Board since 1971, Member of the Park Board, Owen County Farm Family Pride winner in 2001, Owen Countian of the Year in 1993, and Volunteer of the Year in 2005. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Mason Wright, One daughter: Jackie Webster (and husband Marlin) of Owenton; and Jeff Wright (and wife Celia) also of Owenton. Two grandchildren: Staci Burke (and husband Johnnie) and Wesley Yancey; two step grandchildren: Ryan Stephenson and Olivia Karsner; and four great grandchildren: Kelsey and Blake Burke and Madison and Haleigh Yancey. Visitation will be held Monday, January 26th, from 4 until 8pm at the Seminary Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 2pm. Rev. Jesse Bourne and Rev. Kerry Spencer will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the South Fork Baptist Church or the New Horizons Medical Center.
