Charles James Sanders

Charles "Charlie" James Sanders, age 78, of Owenton passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Owenton Manor.Born June 22, 1939, in Owenton, he was the son of the late Howard and Corrine Smith Sanders and was preceded in death by his siblings, Alice Faye Sanders and Vernon Sanders.  Charlie was a master carpenter and took great pride in building houses.  He loved his family and friends and enjoyed dancing and playing cards.  He was a member of Owenton Second Baptist Church where he was active when he was younger.Charlie is survived by his daughter, Denise (Ted) Brooks; his grandsons Tyler and Theo Brooks; his siblings, Zola Sanders, Barbara Gayle, Betsy (Rev. Chris) Hagan, Joseph (Christine) Sanders, Phillip (Rose) Sanders, Dwight (Teresa) Sanders and Jason (Darlene) Sanders and his devoted friends Peter Nuby and Gayle Harris.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Owenton Second Baptist Church on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 11 am until 1 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Rev. Christopher Hagan presiding.
