Charles William Mason, 74, passed away peacefully in Lexington on August 3, 2023.
He was born in Scott County the son of the late Bennie and Nannie Mae Power Mason. Charles was an Army veteran having served in Vietnam. He was a member of Hesler Assembly of God. He was a lifelong farmer having raised tobacco, cattle and hay and operated a bulldozer. Charles enjoyed many things including Massey Ferguson tractors, guns and knives, hunting, music and "picking". He was on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors for 35 years. He had a love for people and never met a stranger. He really enjoyed hosting fish fries and would have huge crowds. In 2005 he took a mission trip back to Vietnam and was loved by all the kids.
He was married on February 10, 1967 to Phyllis Wainscott Mason who survives. Also surviving are his three children, Timothy (Tracy) Mason, Stephen (Teri) Mason and Alisha (Jeff) Satchwell, one sister, Shirley (Gary) Perkins, five grandchildren, Eriq (Tina) Mason, Corey (Kailey) Mason, Allen Dale Mason, Gavin Charles and Gracie Matea Satchwell, two great grandchildren, E.J. and Lillian Mason, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family.
Visitation will be on Wednesday August 9 from 4 to 8 at the Main St. location of New Funeral Homes. The funeral will be on Thursday August 10 at 11AM at the Hesler Assembly of God Church with Pastor Jimmie Dock officiating. Burial will follow in the Owenton Cemetery and memorials may be made to Hesler Assembly of God Church.
