Charles Beckham, Jr.

Charles Beckham, Jr., 93, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.

Born June 4, 1928, in the Greenup community of Owenton, he was the son of the late Charles William and Myrtle Hammond Beckham. On May 15, 1945, he married Margaret Louise Gaines Beckham who preceded him in death on December 1, 2017.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Larry Beckham, Alice Howard, Helen Frazier, and Jerry Beckham.

Junior never met a stranger, loved being around people, telling stories, and will be remembered for his positive outlook on life. He had a philosophy of only worrying about the well-being of the people he loved.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding horses and loved his dogs.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Wanda (Marshall) Carter of Vevay, IN, Betty (John) Ashley of Winchester, Charlene (Ray McNear) Goldsberry of Carrollton, Charlie Beckham of Owenton, Janie (Billy) Hampton of Richmond, and Bobby (Amy) Beckham of Owenton; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Donald Beckham of Victoria, TX and Leroy Beckham of Owenton.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends for visitation at our Main Street Location on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 11 AM until 1 PM with a funeral to follow at 1 PM with burial in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beckham Family in care of the funeral home. Masks are required for those who have not yet been vaccinated.
