Carolyn Ann Swigert

Carolyn Ann Swigert, age 77, of Owenton, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY.

Born September 1, 1947, she was one of seven children of the late Howard and Gladys Marie Godman Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her children, Jean Kaye Patton and Richard Swigert, as well as her siblings, Charlie Stephenson and Peggy Ashcraft. On December 23, 1963, Carolyn married the love of her life, Robert Lee Swigert. Together, they built a beautiful legacy of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and wonderful travel adventures. She enjoyed trips to Branson and Renfro Valley to listen to her favorite music, Bluegrass. She retired from the Owen County School System, where she served as the Elementary School Cafeteria Manager and had previously worked as a bus driver. Most of all, Carolyn loved playing card games and being "Mamaw" to her grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events.

Carolyn will be missed by her husband of over 61 years, Robert Lee Swigert; her son, Robbie (Melanie) Swigert; her grandchildren, Lita (Will) Newman, Amber (Matt) Smith, Ritchie Swigert, Krissy (Jonathan) Locker, Jake Patton, and Kyle Patton; her great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Jackson, and Kennedy Smith, Cason and Waylon Locker, and Rylan Newman. Her siblings also survive Wayne Stephenson, Rick Stephenson, Jerry Stephenson, and Marion Stephenson.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends for visitation at Old Cedar Baptist Church on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 11 am until 1 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with burial in the Owenton Cemetery.
